What happens at your dental checkup at our DIP clinic.
Step 1
Dental & medical history
For new patients, we begin by reviewing your dental and medical history — medications, allergies, any history of gum disease, pain or sensitivity. This informs your entire care plan.
Step 2
Tooth-by-tooth examination
Your dentist examines every tooth surface for cavities, cracks, chips, worn enamel, and existing fillings or restorations that may need attention. Findings are charted for your records.
Step 3
Gum health assessment
We measure the depth of the pockets around each tooth to assess gum health. Early gingivitis or periodontitis can be reversed when caught here. Swelling, recession and bleeding are noted.
Step 4
Digital X-rays (when needed)
Digital dental X-rays reveal cavities between teeth, bone levels, the roots of teeth, and impacted wisdom teeth — all invisible to the naked eye. Low-radiation, instant results.
Step 5
Bite & jaw assessment
We check how your upper and lower teeth fit together and assess the jaw joints (TMJ). Teeth grinding, clenching and bite misalignment can cause significant long-term damage if undetected.
Step 6
Treatment plan & prevention
Your dentist walks you through all findings and, where treatment is needed, presents clear options with pricing before anything is booked. Prevention advice is tailored to your specific oral health profile.

A small cavity detected at a routine checkup can be treated with a simple filling (AED 150–250). Left undetected for another year, that same cavity may reach the nerve — requiring root canal treatment (AED 800–1,500) and a dental crown (AED 1,200–2,500). The cost difference is enormous. A comprehensive dental checkup at our DIP clinic starts from AED 100. This includes a full oral examination. Digital X-rays, where needed, are priced separately. We provide a clear cost breakdown before any treatment. The first consultation at Optima Health Care is complimentary.
A standard dental checkup appointment takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, including the examination and any necessary X-rays. New patients may require slightly longer as we build your dental history and discuss any existing concerns.
Most patients benefit from a dental checkup every 6 months. Patients with a history of gum disease, frequent cavities, or other risk factors may benefit from more frequent visits. Your dentist at our DIP clinic will recommend the right schedule for you.
Yes — when indicated, we use digital dental X-rays to detect issues not visible on clinical examination. Digital X-rays emit significantly less radiation than conventional X-rays and results are available instantly.
A dental checkup and professional teeth cleaning are separate appointments but are often booked together. We recommend combining your 6-monthly checkup with a professional scale and polish for the most comprehensive oral health visit. WhatsApp us and we will book both in one appointment.
